Autism Assessments and Evaluations
Autism Assessments, Diagnostic Evaluations, and Consultations
Dr. Brink is available to assist individuals and families who are seeking more information about autism. He conducts in person, video, and phone consultations based on the situation and needs of the case.
Autism Diagnostic Evaluation
A diagnostic evaluation is a thorough assessment of an individual presenting with unique developmental, behavioral, or emotional characteristics in attempt to rule out developmental disorders or other psychiatric conditions. This process typically takes several appointments and includes clinical interviews, standardized testing, observation, assessment of historical records, and interviews with other medical providers, teachers, and family members as appropriate. The purpose of this evaluation is to provide diagnostic clarity and make a diagnosis if applicable, but more importantly to help the individual and family create a plan for how to access treatment, services, and support.
Consultations
It is not unusual for families who have been impacted by autism to arrive at a point where they are unsure how to best proceed and feel stuck. Sometimes this is because current treatment plans appear not to be working. Some families are looking for consultation as they begin the treatment process, and others are struggling to find help at all. Wherever your family is at in the process of helping a loved one with autism, Dr. Brink enjoys meeting with families to hear their story and offer his many years of experience guiding families towards hope and healing.
