Matthew Brink first encountered autism as a professional covering the night shifts on the inpatient psychiatric unit at Children's Hospital:

"There was an 11 year old girl on the unit who was non-verbal. She had been there several weeks without uttering a sound.  One morning as I was making rounds I entered her room, slipped open the curtains, and as sunlight spilled onto her bed I started singing John Denver's Sunshine On My Shoulders. To everyone's surprise she sat up in bed, and with the most beautiful voice finished the chorus with me. I don't know why but that was the moment I fell in love with kids like her."

Dr. Brink went on to study and develop programming for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. His impact on children and families with autism has been felt far and wide. including wilderness programs, intensive social skills groups for all ages,  outpatient clinics, and national consulting services.

He currently serves as the CEO of Malama Pono Autism Center in the Hawaiian Islands. In addition he maintains a testing and assessment office in Colorado Springs, Colorado for individuals in need of assessment and diagnostic evaluation.  Families interested in evaluation or consultation services can contact Dr. Brink's office here.
